Anon.Scrub

Photos carry more than the picture. Drop one here and the hidden parts come off.

JPEG, PNG and WebP. Everything else is handed back untouched.

    Nothing is uploaded

This page does the work itself, on your device. The file never reaches our server, or anyone else's. You can pull the network cable out and it still works.

    What comes off

    • Where the photo was taken. Phones write GPS coordinates into the file by default, accurate to a few metres. If you took it at home, the file knows where you live.
    • When, and on what. Date, time, camera make and model, lens, and the serial number some cameras include.
    • Names and captions. Author fields, copyright lines, editing history and captions left behind by photo software.
    • Anything a phone tucked away. Maker notes, thumbnails of the shot before you cropped it, and the XMP block editors leave behind.

    What stays

The picture itself, byte for byte. Colour profiles and the settings a viewer needs to display the image correctly are kept, so a scrubbed file looks exactly like the one you started with. Anything that is not a JPEG, PNG or WebP is passed straight through unchanged.

You may not need this page

Every file uploaded to Anon.Cat is scrubbed exactly like this, automatically, with nothing to switch on. This page is for the other times: a photo you are about to send somewhere else entirely, and want cleaned first.
